Bowmanville, ON — After a challenging outing at Watkins Glen International, the Unitronic JDC-Miller Motorsports team is focused on bouncing back this weekend as the IMSA Michelin Pilot Challenge heads north to Canadian Tire Motorsport Park (CTMP) for Unitronic's home race.
Leaving Watkins Troubles Behind
The #17 Porsche 718 Cayman GT4 RS Clubsport, driven by Chris Miller and Mikey Taylor, showed promising pace at Watkins Glen before an early flat tire forced an unscheduled pit stop. Unfortunately, the incident also led to an electrical issue that hampered the team's efforts for the remainder of the event, resulting in a disappointing 29th-place finish. While Watkins Glen wasn't the result the team was hoping for, the focus quickly shifts to one of the most anticipated weekends of the season.
Excited For a Home Race This Weekend
Canadian Tire Motorsport Park has long been a special stop on the IMSA calendar for Unitronic. As a Canadian company, competing in front of home fans and partners always adds extra motivation for the entire team.
Joining the effort this weekend will be Unitronic Authorized Dealer, and Ontario's own; AM TUNING, who will be on-site supporting the team and connecting with fellow enthusiasts throughout the event. Fans attending the event are encouraged to stop by the paddock to meet the team, and collect exclusive event posters, while getting an up-close look at the No. 17 Unitronic Porsche.
With the lessons from Watkins Glen behind them, the team is eager to put together a strong performance at one of North America's fastest and most iconic road courses.
“No race feels quite as much as a home race like Canadian Tire Motorsport Park!" said Mikey Taylor. "I used to live just down the road and we always have a lot of great support from the Canadian fans, including those who made the trip from Quebec where Unitronic is based."
"Secondly, this track is just one of those old school fast and flowing race tracks that make you smile every lap that you get to push around that place. Really looking forward to this weekend, the whole team has made a lot of progress over the last couple of races, but unfortunately, some bad luck has not allowed us to showcase our recent potential and I’m hoping with some home race luck will be able to do just that this weekend!”
